The weekend has been a good one. I felt really good yesterday, ended up going for 2 walks and a bike ride of almost an hour — oh what a pleasure it was! Such a joy to ride my bike, I just couldn’t help myself going longer and harder than I had planned. The good thing was that I still felt fine afterwards! Finished the day watching the finals of the Eurovision Song Contest — very entertaining, although we did not at all agree with the voting of the juries and public. Oh well, it was still fun.

Today was a bit slower, as I woke up early, not having slept enough, and unable to sleep more. Still a nice day with a longer walk, very enjoyable family meals, a round of rummy… As you can see, I’m trying to focus on “normal life” things, rather than constantly thinking about my disease. While the impact of having cancer is significant, I’m trying hard not to let it take over all of my life.

Symptoms have changed and lessened significantly. Nausea is all but gone, I haven’t taken anti nausea meds in 3 or so days. Heartburn also much better. Now, the main issues are that the inside of my nose is completely dry and sore, and I feel my scalp getting itchy. I wonder if this the first step towards losing my hair… — not something I’m looking forward to, as it will the the first symptom that is clearly visible on the outside. I‘m not sure if I’m ready for this. Also, I read about the risk of damage to the nerves in fingertips and feet through chemo, and that you could try wearing e.g. cooling gloves while the chemo is running. Cooler feet and fingers would see less blood flow, and thus reduced risk of damage to nerves. Not sure what to think of this.

That’s it for today — I’m keeping it short. Thanks for reading! Maybe in the coming days I find it in me to write more about the past. Stay tuned…
